Ports as low-carbon energy hubs

BluePortLab explores how European ports can combine renewable energy, biodiversity and maritime activity, and help lead the way to a climate-neutral blue economy.

Living Lab Networks

Testing new ideas in real ports

Researchers and stakeholders co-create, test and refine solutions together in the Mediterranean, North Sea and Baltic Sea regions.

Rethinking how we use port spaces

Ports connect land and sea, bringing together energy, transport, industry and local communities. BluePortLab develops practical solutions that help ports reduce emissions and energy use, while creating value for the regions around them.

Research and practice meet in Living Lab Networks, where researchers and stakeholders co-create, test and refine ideas in real port environments.

What we ask

Three central questions

01

Synergies

How can ports create synergies between energy production, biodiversity and economic development?

02

Impacts

What are the socio-economic and environmental impacts of these new multi-use concepts?

03

Governance

How can ports develop governance models that support resilient and sustainable management?
